About two weeks until Spain, I can't stop thinking about what I'm facing. I decided to reflect on what I want to accomplish and just how I'm feeling toward the trip as a whole. This blog will basically serve as an online journal for me, so I will remember fun, exciting, and maybe terrible events throughout the semester. I'm making this public, just so I don't have to spend time sending out emails to family and friends :)
Goals for Spain
1. Improve my Spanish, listening and speaking
2. Make lasting relationships with people who live in Spain, including my family
3. Travel a lot in Spain. I want to see Valencia, Barcelona, Bilbao, Grenada
4. Travel a lot outside Spain. I want to see Lisbon, Paris, London, maybe Bruges, Belgium
5. Go on one date with a Spaniard!!! :)
6. See a concert; attend an art show; learn to dance like a Spaniard!
7. Volunteer around the city, possibly with homeless or mentally challenged
8. Take a long bike ride around Santiago de Compostela
9. Enjoy the rain. It’s the rainiest city in Spain :)
10. Go hiking in the mountains.
11. Attend a professional soccer match!
12. Discern what I want to do with the rest of my life. (probably won’t happen, but this semester might help me narrow it down)
Most nervous about…
1. My host family won’t like me or won’t serve me good food.
2. Messing up the work I’ll be doing at Fisiogal, a physical therapy clinic. Exciting yet nerve racking!
Most excited about…
1. Exploring the city of Santiago de Compostela
2. Meeting people, learning about their cultural traditions, allowing those cultural differences to challenge my beliefs and ideals
3. Learning how to be independent, when traveling, when talking to strangers, when doing anything outside of my comfort zone!
4. Eating the all the food! Especially having tapas and paella.
